Skype Direct Hacker Attack

Wow - A Skype user with the id of "Security Monitor" pinged the following message at me

WINDOWS REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION

ATTENTION ! Security Center has detected
malware on your computer !

Microsoft Windows NT Workstation
Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows Win98
Microsoft Windows Server 2003

Impact of Vulnerability: Remote Code Execution / Virus Infection / Unexpected shutdowns

Recommendation: Users running vulnerable version should install a repair utility immediately

Your system IS affected, download the patch from the address below ! Failure to do so may result in severe computer malfunction.

That is a scary new approach to infecting someone's computer - a direct Skype message. How many people could easily get caught by that one?

Hi John,I got a security message from Skype user security.centre.oskype14 with a link (http://www.update-alert.org/?q=usasec) and clicked the link. I looked up google and it gave me yr webpage. Cud u plz tell me if this is a virus or a hoax. Plz reply to brain_game06@yahoo.com, appreciate your help.

Mark, I have no idea what it does - I didn't click the link as it evidently wasn't from Skype (they post their messages on their own site).

I'd suggest you thoroughly disinfect your computer as it seems highly probable that some malware was installed as a consequence.

Please step away from your PC, shut it down, unplug it, and either sell or throw out your window because you clearly have no clue about PC's.
